Pliny examines Monster Hunter World's mechanics, art design, performance, crafting, RPG grind and narrative to arrive at the conclusion that the game is good but falls short of the greatness many reviewers had given it credit for. His combination of nit pickiness, low threshold for frustration, a broken and unintuitive matchmaking system, and a bland story leave much room for improvement still in this 15 year old franchise.
