I've used Huawei devices before, the Mate 20 Pro was my main device for a good 6 months or so, so I'm no stranger to Huawei phones. I didn't know a lot about the Nove 5T going in though, which isn't necessarily a bad thing!
This has to be classed as mid range due to it's price, but it's specs say something different. Huawei have packed high end components into this device and it shows. It looks and feels great with an amazing looking screen and runs very smooth, even in games such as Mario Kart Tour.
The camera options are fantastic, the Ultra Wide Angle lens is always handy, but I've never had a dedicated macro lens before and have already used it a handful of times. It's really handy!
Throw in that the battery life seems really impressive even with only 3750mAh battery, it seems to go on and on and on! The hardware generally is hard to beat.
The two things I would improve would be the loud speaker and the software. I listen to a lot of podcasts and often make phone calls, both using the loud speaker and this one is what I would say 'average'. To many this wont matter though.
The software I would much prefer to be stock Android, but Huawei seem to me making EMUI better as it goes. At time of writing the Nova 5T is currently on Android 9 but with an Android 10 based EMUI on it's way.
All in all, a great phone.
