In this webinar of the Monitoring Climate Change from Space series, Annett Bartsch, Science Leader of the Permafrost Climate Change Initiative (CCI) project, explored how permafrost thaw can be identified from space, discussed the differences between Arctic lowlands and mountain areas, highlighted where the hotspots of permafrost thaw were located, and examined the different Earth observation approaches needed to capture changes in both lowland and mountain environments.
