Colleagues and friends,
I’m delighted to provide you with the inaugural issue of a new monthly video update, Mondays with Mark. I am excited to connect with you through this medium to share brief recent highlights from the school.
Each month, I’ll provide a glimpse into a variety of aspects from across the school. It is our hope that these short video segments will augment our existing internal communications and help the school community feel better informed about the incredible programs and work within our world.
In this episode, I’m touching on our upcoming 75th anniversary celebrations— including an invitation to join a group drone photo at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 28, the effects of recent flooding in Tulare, and an update on our house officer program.
I look forward to sharing more about the exciting work that you are all doing at the school, and I welcome any suggestions you may have.
Thank you for watching, and I hope you enjoy this first monthly update.

![Mondays with Mark: September 2023 [Agricultural Edition]
September is harvest time, which turns my thoughts to how the school supports agriculture in California. Every day, hundreds of people at the school, including more than 50 faculty, work to keep crops free of animal-borne illnesses, protect the health of food animals, monitor for diseases, provide critical information and training, and perform other actions to help everyone from backyard farmers to major agricultural producers. Our mission covers everything from chickens, goats, dairy, and cattle, to even organic crops.
In this episode, you’ll get a taste of the incredible scope of what we do and see how we are incorporating new methods like predictive modeling and social media monitoring to keep domestic and wild creatures and humans safe—all while educating our next generation of veterinarians and scientists.
