In this episode of Mondays at Mirai, heavy snowmelt pours from the gutters as the entire team is working diligently all across the property to get the week launched at full speed, while garden volunteers Ira and Ryan C. bring their joyful antics to the greenhouse for some repotting assistance.
Starting out in the office today, Diana, our brand director, is gleefully getting an opportunity to handle the Mamiya C330 film camera. As a creative photographer and videographer, she feels a connection to the instantaneous and irreplaceable capture of an analog film camera. On the other side of the office, Ryan lays out a calendar of energy systems and timing of work for Japanese black pine bonsai. Over in the greenhouse, Ryan C., with his good friend Ira's help, is in the process of repotting a highway-collected tamarisk. Meanwhile, Jesus and Lani are in the studio photographing another massive shipment of ceramics to be added to the webstore. Sheree, our garden apprentice, is exhausted due to a week-long power outage at her home in the Portland area due to ice and snowmelt. Later, while Jesus is filming the work on a hornbeam repotting from driftwood bonsai, Ryan spontaneously decides to take his raft-style teaching straight to the viewers with a Super Tuesday livestream. Sometimes, spontaneity is the spark to an artist's creative vision, such as it is this week for Ryan with a deciduous bonsai raft design.
