Three days of headwinds caused a massive pile-up of southward migrating butterflies on Prouts Neck, Maine (September 27, 2006). Watch a golden drapery of sleeping butterflies on pine and spruce awaken at dawn, open their wings to the warmth of the sun and begin to flit away, resuming their long journey.

The beauty of nature is enhanced in this video by the Native American flute music of R. Carlos Nakai - rcarlosnakai.com

Videography by Connie Barlow, who chanced upon this remarkable aggregation of travelers on a sunset walk the previous eve.
