A (mostly) time lapse video of a monarch caterpillar metamorphosing into a pupa, better known as a chrysalis. This video is just over 4 minutes long but was approximately an hour in real time.
1:00 The caterpillar splits its skin from 1 minute and begins to shed the skin.
2:12 The cremaster emerges, which the caterpillar hooks into the silk button to hang from.
2:45 The cremaster successfully contacts and hooks into the silk button.
3:33 The pupa flicks the dead skin off.
