A fine, elegant pop statement, "Beside Me" crosses sunny Southern California pop with a strong, East Coast urban "city" feel. Extremely well-written and musically ambitious, the song crawls along at a tender pace and is brilliantly colored by a gorgeous Perry Botkin Jr. string arrangement. Lyrically, the pain of romantic separation is told in an aching, literate fashion. In this respect, the song is a world away from the Mojo Men's other (excellent) lighter pop/rock statements.
