Intellijel 1U Random/Clock
4ms Rotating Clock Divider (RCD) and Breakout
Mutable Instruments (MI) Rings
MI Clouds
MI Rings
MI Veils
MI Tides
2 x MI Peaks
4ms Spectral Multiband Resonator
TipTop ONE
Intellijel 1U Quadratt
Intellijel 1U Buffered Mult
Intellijel 1U Digitank Reverb
2hp Reverb
2hp Delay
2hp 3:1
Transient Modules 6ch Mixer
Pittsburgh Outs
Routing/Control
-----------------------
Main “whale” voice: Tides in oscillator mode, Bi output. Shape, Slope, and Smoothness modulated by Peaks #1 Channel #1 in LFO mode, attenuated via Quadratt. V/oct driven by Meta-Sequencer. Free-running envelope is from a channel of O+C in Quadrature mode fed to Level input.
Weird bass/drum/“whale” voice: Ripples self-resonating and FM’d by Tides Bi output. V/oct driven by Meta-Sequencer (multed). Envelope by Peaks #2 Channel #1 via Veils.
Rushing sound effect: TipTop ONE.
Three prior items mixed in Veils and sent 2hp Delay and Verb modules and on to final mix. Delay Feedback modulated by channel of O+C (multed).
Background Drone/Burble: 4ms SMR in self-generating resonator mode, with Rotation and Spread modulated by slewed Random output of 1U Intellijel Clock/Random, attenuated via Quadratt. Channel levels modulated by O+C in Quadrature mode, with a couple of channels cross-modulated by the SMR’s own envelope outputs. SMR Odd/Even sent to Clouds Left/Right. Clouds in normal granular mode. Position modulated by an LFO channel of O+C (multed) and on to final mix.
Gong/guitar sound: Rings in Sympathetic Strings mode, tuned to static note and strummed by /8 output of RCD. Brightness, Damping and Position modulated by Peaks #1 Channel#1 (multed). Rings output straight to final mix.
Sequencing/Timing
-----------------------
Meta-Sequencer drives all notes in the piece. Odd/random timing achieved by Peaks #2 Channel #2 in slow, square LFO mode fed to RCD Rotate input. The rotation disturbs all timing in the patch chaotically if not randomly. Additionally, Meta-Sequencer is Reset to step 1 by Peaks #1 Channel #1 also in free-running slow, square LFO mode. This, combined with the varying clock speed results in sequence lengths varying between 3 and 8.
Audio/Video Notes
=========
Camera: Sony A6000 mounting a Leica 28mm Summicron-R
Audio recorded on a Zoom H2 using the mic input (the line input is busted). Too hot, yet again :-(
Edited in Apple iMovie.
