Modeling a glass cup and a plate - Sketchup Tutorial timelapse @SketchupStyle

Today we're going to model a glass cup and plate. And we’re going to put some red tea in it. 😊

The rendering is done in Vray for sketchup, but I keep it extremely simple. I just decrease the intensity of the light, increase the size of the sun to get that soft shadows effect and work around refraction and reflection of the materials.
If you want to follow along with all the steps, and recreate this exact model yourself, I suggest you set the speed of the video to 0,5. That way you can follow the tutorial with no problem. But If you’re just here for the speed build timelapse, just sit back and enjoy the video as is, or you can even double the speed.
In the lower right corner of your screen you can see what I’m typing but beware, I don’t use Sketchup default shortcuts as you’ll probably notice, but I’ll list all my custom shortcuts right below.

The Colosseum or Coliseum,also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre; Italian: Anfiteatro Flavio or Colosseo, is an oval amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of travertine limestone, tuff (volcanic rock), and brick-faced concrete, it was the largest amphitheatre ever built at the time and held 50,000 spectators. The Colosseum is situated just east of the Roman Forum. Construction began under the emperor Vespasian in AD 72 and was completed in AD 80 under his successor and heir, Titus. It is one of Romes most popular tourist attractions and also has links to the Roman Catholic Church, as each Good Friday the Pope leads a torchlit Way of the Cross procession that starts in the area around the Colosseum. Quads are planes that have 4 vertices. Plugins I used are Quadface tools to edit the simplified proxy geometry and plugin Artisan to subdivide the surfaces. This kind of modeling is called Subdivision surface modeling and although it’s more suited for other 3d modeling software like Maya, 3Dmax or Blender, Sketchup is still able to achieve very acceptable and nice results with the use of the Artisan plugin.
