Model impact craters produced in a sandpack using a high-velocity pellet gun. I made these models to see 1) how the sandpack responded to the impact stress and 2) from where in the geologic section ejecta was derived. The results are interesting, and bear some similarities to real impact features. Scaling the behavior of the projectile is obviously an issue, as is the lack of melting, but the overall result is interesting!
