I decided to use Everyplay for this completion, rather than my original screen recorder like I would usually use. It just felt right for me to do today.
I am not exactly sure where to start here. This is was very unexpected news that had came out of the blue, early in the morning for me. And I didn’t think it was true at first. I was hoping that it was just a sick twisted early April Fools’ joke gone wrong, but my hopes have been crushed. This is a real thing. The legendary creator and former top 1 player Michigun has passed away. So instead of writing about the level, I wanted to write more about his impact on me as well as others around me.
For me particularly, he was an inspiration, but in a somewhat weird way. I didn’t really look up to him for being a star grinder or a creator in particular, but I was really intrigued by his Temple level series. The dedication it would take to keep such a series going for such a long time is honestly incredible. And it had inspired me to create some level series of my own. And although they didn’t really turn out how I wanted, I still had fun making what I did for my own level series. And even though I didn’t really look up to him for his star grinding or creating, I always respected his meticulous work. And even his parts in the megacollabs he was featured in were pretty damn cool too.
And he of course had an impact on my friends as well. Some of my friends were inspired by his levels, as well as his intense star grinding. And even though he had eventually decided to grow away from the game a bit, he was still in touch with the community. And maybe he didn’t exactly realize how much of an impact he had to this community, but I’m here to say that you did a great job Michi. Many people see the efforts you put into this game and are very appreciative of what you have done, even if you didn’t think of it as substantial while you were here.
You will never be forgotten. Your geometric footsteps are paved into this game forever, and people will always remember you. Playing your levels, changing their icon sets to yours, or even just showing their gratitude with a triple spike. Everybody shows their respect for you differently. But I am deciding to do so like this.
And rest in paradise Michigun. We will miss you.
