Wind warning in effect for:
St. John's and vicinity
Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.
Maximum gusts: southeasterly 100 km/h today, and southwesterly 120 km/h tonight into Sunday morning.
Locations: the Avalon and Bonavista Peninsulas.
Time span: until Sunday morning.
Remarks: The mild temperatures today will plummet tonight causing a possible rapid freeze of any standing water from the rainfall and any snowmelt.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.
Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
