- *Tamanuiterā:* Also written as "Tama-nui-te-rā" is the sacred name and also the personification of the sun compared to its common word "te rā".
- *Te Moana-Nui-a-Kiwa:* Is the name for the Pacific Ocean, it's literally translated as "The Great Ocean of Kiwa", Kiwa is a divine guardian of the ocean in Māori mythology.
- *Pūanga:* Is the Māori name for the Rigel star
- *Atutahi-mā-Rehua:* Atutahi is the Māori name for the Canopus star and Rehua the Māori name for the Antares star, in the traditional Māori lunar calendar the movement of this pair of stars is associated with the natural patterns of the celestial bodies in the sky.
