So this is an interesting song because the lyricists added Māori history and mythology related lines and the titles is literally that! Explaining further done!

*NOTES:*
- '*'Hawaiki''* mentioned in the title of the song and in the song itself is considered the ancient homeland of the Māori people, from where they migrated to New Zealand. Basically there's not an exact translation for that word so ''Home Land'' fits the best here.
- *Hawaiki-nui:* In some Māori traditions the supreme being Io created Hawaiki-nui, Hawaiki-roa, Hawaiki-pāmamao and Hawaiki-tapu.
- in 0:23 ,Waitā and Waitī are stars of the Pleiades constellation, which are known in English as Maya and Taygeta. Waitī (Maia) and Waitā (Taygeta) are associated with food and water, one is male and the other female.
