Yay, I finally got the debug from the game to load. Here's how you do it if you want to try!
At the start of the game, get to the scene in the video. In RAM, change the value at 020E60D8 to 00 00. Reload the map, then talk to the boy near the ship. Change the value at 0217BFF9 to change the dialog ID. This changes what message shows up.
