F*ck the Roy haters, I've been an oppressed Roy fan since the Melee days! 🖕
Okay that aside, this is the first MMD video where I made FULL use of Adobe After Effects with my current knowledge. So the After Effects I used in this video looks like me trying to test them out. 😅

The MMD credits are at the end of this video, but here are the programs I used to make this:

Adobe After Effects 2020
Adobe Illustrator 2021

I plan to use more Adobe software in the future. I just need to learn how to use them and be proficient in them. After making this video, I'm starting to adapt to After Effects, but I'm still a beginner.

This video is about Roy's growth and path from becoming a Bottom Tier underdog (Melee), to a strong and aggressively intimidating Top Tier fighter (Ultimate). Roy had always ended up having the short end of the stick. In other words, Roy waits for a opportunity (light) that NEVER comes for him. Hence the song.

When Roy made his first debut in Melee, many players tried him out and think that Roy sucks or is bottom tier. Then when FE6 was fan-translated and become playable in the West, Western fans thinks that Roy is the "Worst FE Lord" character just because they think his stats suck and they don't invest in him. Then during the Smash Brawl days, so many Smash fanfics were created. Unfortunately so many fanfic writers misinterpret Roy as some annoying idiot that is a target of comedy relief. Roy is actually the opposite. Roy's an intelligent tactical prodigy with an inferiority complex that gives him depression.

All of the misinterpretation and hate made me defend Roy, and I eventually ended up liking him a lot more because of it. I ended up becoming the oppressed Roy fan you see today.

I don't see Roy as the worst lord. In fact, I played FE6 myself. I find it more realistic that Roy started off with weaker stats, because he was just a 15 year old Lord who doesn't have much experience in battle yet. Plus it makes the battles more challenging and stimulating, putting my strategic mindset to use. Using one unit to solo maps is the most boring and stupid strategy to me. I even gave Roy some stat boosts, and he eventually became a strong and reliable unit as the story progresses.
Also the reason why Roy's Binding Blade is so broken, is because I believe that FE6 is trying to show that Roy went from being a weak an inexperienced Lord, to an extremely strong one. It's showing Roy's growth, and that's what this video shows too.

There are some things that I want to point out in this video:
The reason why I put Fox in the video is because Fox is Top Tier in Melee, compared to Roy who was Bottom Tier. There was a phrase "A skilled Roy can beat any Fox" as a way to mock skilled Roy mains. Therefore, I kept making Roy fight Fox in this video to show that Roy is constantly trying to overcome his weakness.
Marth is in this video because I tend to headcanon that Roy admired Marth, to the point that he copied Marth's fighting moves. This made Roy a Marth clone in Melee. In SSB4 and Ultimate, Roy began to no longer be a Marth clone. Roy started having his own moveset. I see this as Roy learning to not copy Marth anymore and be more original. Marth is there at the ending because he is proud of Roy's growth.
Chrom is in this video because, even though he's a Roy echo fighter, Chrom mains or Chrom fans used to hate on Roy, saying that Chrom is way better than him. Another thing that oppressed Roy fans like me had to deal with at the time. 😒 It unfortunately gave me a bad impression on Chrom too but I eventually got over it.
Roy Koopa is in this video to symbolize Western fans hating and mocking Roy. There used to be memes about Roy Koopa stealing and replacing Roy's identity. Poor Roy just never catches a break 😔
Pichu is there because I always see Pichu as Roy's close partner. Pichu was also Bottom Tier in Melee, but then Pichu came back in Ultimate and became Top Tier with Roy for a while. Pichu was a lightning fast glass cannon to be reckoned with. Pichu and Roy make a great duo. 🥺
And Captain Falcon is there because I just see him everywhere in Melee and in online matches lol 😂

I added some butterflies at the ending because butterflies symbolizes metamorphosis and change. Roy had indeed changed throughout the 20 years. He went from being a hated underdog, to a likeable strong fighter.
Yes it's been about 20 years. Roy had first debuted in November 21st, 2001. Now it's 2021, and November will be Roy's 20th anniversary. 🥳🎉
