On the American holiday that celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King, Navy chaplains in Hawai‘i repeatedly invoked his name and talked about "honoring his legacy."
Their social media accounts did too.
Those that know what MLK truly stood for were quick to point out that in addition to being a civil rights leader, he was also a socialist, and anti-imperialist — King saw racial injustice, economic injustice, and war as three of the world's great evils.
If the Navy in Hawai‘i really wants to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, why do they continue to drag their feet in defueling and decommissioning an outdated underground fuel facility that could permanently poison O‘ahu's drinking water?
