This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS). This time will not count on any real rankings. Done on Dolphin 5.0 with slowdown, savestates, frame advance, TAS input, TAS code, and RAM watch (info display).

Well damn... I was not expecting this to be possible.

This all began when Arvo had a close attempt at making the glitch using Jellopuff's recently found strat (see here: youtube.com/watch?v=3gyK7jleI6U). Arvo then requested to me that I TAS code his attempt to see how close he was to making it. While doing so, I got this massive backwards hop, and flew across the entire chasm I just crossed - landing back on the track (see here: youtube.com/watch?v=KsCsr69Bp-g).

I decided to try this on the left side to see if it would count the lap, and it did!! The entire glitch is now possible with one shroom. The backwards hop is frame perfect - but many frame perfect things have been executed in the game before, thus meaning this glitch could now be pulled off in real time very soon. Even if you get the backwards hop and don't make it back onto the track, you can still get a respawn which will place you behind the last ramp and the lap will still count. The strat in the 2nd half of the video has a slim chance of being made, but I thought I'd include it anyway because of how cool it looked.

The reason why I drive backwards really far in the first strat is to hit the last Key Checkpoint to get a lap count (similar to the glitch on Wario's Gold Mine).

Also keep in mind that the start of the TAS is much more unoptimised than the start of Jello's video, so essentially a 17 second lap is possible with this glitch.
