MKWii TAS Competition 2021 - Task 13:
On a modified version of SNES Mario Circuit 3, using ALL your mushrooms, complete lap ONE as fast as possible.
- All of the regular road has been switched to offroad and vice versa
- There are also some new obstacles to make it a little more interesting

Btw I added the results to the task 12 video because I realised that while writing this (I copy the description template from the previous video and it didn't have results in it). I also copied this over from the task 12 video and noticed that I did the exact same thing. What a coincidence! Those of you reading the description early, hi! Thank you for being invested in this series and clicking on this video :) your support means more than you think!
Unfortunately due to problems with hardware, I didn't have access to a computer on the weekend of the Task 14 stream, and so I didn't notice that the Task 13 VOD was expiring, it ran over its 14 day limit, and I didn't highlight it, meaning it was deleted and lost forever. I spent countless hours looking for solutions and workarounds to it but to no avail. This was the most successful task in terms of submission numbers and time proximity that we've ever had so it's a huge shame that of all the streams that could have been lost, it had to be this one.
Special thanks to Jellopuff for coming up with the idea for this task, and Wade474 for giving the rest of the task creator team the motivation to actually go through with it, by suggesting the custom oil slicks that proved the task was worth pursuing. Hopefully you guys like the changes I've made to the comparison section, I've been wanting to alter a few things for a while now and I like how it turned out.
I'm going to be releasing a follow-up video to these results as a sort of behind-the-scenes look at the full process of Task 13 from the first moments in the planning phases, the build-up to the stream, some placeholders for the stream itself (saved clips and statistics), my entire process of trying to bring the stream back after realising it had been lost, and then a timelapse of the full creation of the video you're watching right now (a sped-up OBS screen recording of me recording, editing, rendering, uploading, description writing, thumbnail creating, and watching the premiere, over the span of 3 days)

NOTE: This TAS is prelim (preliminary, so not fully optimised), and has multiple known improvements, which are listed below. Please do NOT consider this as the final/perfect TAS, as it will definitely be improved in the future, and will be linked in this paragraph when improved. There are also 10 authors of this TAS, who are listed below too.
This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS). Played on SwareJonges Dolphin 5.0 LUA Core v3.3/v3.5. Tools used: slow-down, savestates, frame advance, TAS input, TAS code, RAM watch (info display), LUA scripts, text files, and LuigiMs TAS toolkit.
TAS BKT Cut: -23.092 (against no glitch)

Known improvements:
- The supergrind on lap 1 can be set up and performed about 0.2-0.3 faster (found by Marth) by getting a full stick instead of a huge bounce, like we do on lap 3 here
- The final section of lap 2 can be improved by 0.016 (found by Campbell), which also carries over to the final section of lap 3 (0.016 as well)
- Carrying from Campbells improvement, the lap 3 supergrind can be setup and performed about 0.1 faster (found by Marth), and everything past the fourth turn can be properly optimised (this is the next step, as it allows for more of the run to be completed more optimally, and is what we are focused on in order to get a better TAS out sooner)
About the run:
This is a re-encode of the 2:05.226 prelim TAS from February (https://youtu.be/kCrAYm673KE) that was completed by taking the progress we had made on lap 3 before we had to restart it due to Campbells lap 2 improvement. Of course, the end of the run was done in one attempt without splicing the fastest known ending at the time (which was the end of the 27.346 glitch flap), so I spliced in the inputs from that run on to the end of this run to bring you the fastest known time we would had been able to reach before we chose to restart lap 3 and kill the project.
Looking forward:
In a few months, we will probably be finished with the redo of lap 3 (no promises though, we arent working on it actively right now, so its just a guess), and therefore will be able to release the second attempt at a 3lap, which will hopefully be a sub 2:05 (which is awesome). If were lucky, we might have motivation to redo lap 1 as well after that, which could take until next year to complete. Since lap 1 has at least 0.2-0.3 improvement, if the lap 3 improvements dont allow us to get the sub 2:05, then they will absolutely allow it.
Explanation of WIP History (because there will be questions):
10th - Zaks former NG BKT
9th - Marths current NG BKT
8th - Logans RTA WR (fastest time ever achieved across TAS and non-TAS at the time)
7th - Joke TAS by Bryce, made by editing the end of Logans WR, so that the fastest achieved time was actually a TAS
6th - Slightly more serious TAS by Jellopuff, made in the same way, but by doing decent driving on laps 2 and 3 as well
5th - Joke TAS by myself, made during Ejays and my ultra SC challenge, by performing the lap 2 glitch solely with my own input, and driving a prelim lap 3 (even doing spiral skip)
4th - The first ever attempt at seriously making a prelim lap 3, once lap 2 was finished, which I performed in call with Ando aiming to get a palindrome
3rd - Another significant prelim attempt, made after we had optimised the supergrind on lap 3
2nd - The most progress we ever legitimately made before restarting lap 3, made after almost making it to the staircase lap 3
1st - The most progress we have made so far, and the video you are watching (the chosen mii name is due to the fact that I could have got the 0.110 improvement in February but couldnt be bothered to)
