This is a tool-assisted speedrun. This time will not count on any real-time rankings. Done on Dolphin 5.0 with savestates, slowdown, frame advance, and RAM watch.

In all seriousness though, this is something I have thought about for a while, at least since I created my Spear quintuple video (By the way, Spear can also do quintuple starting with Cookie Strat using this method). I did a lot of testing with Spear to see if BKT was possible with it. My testing was halted a few days ago, however, because my TASing computer had a hard drive error that took 2 days to fix. During that time, Estaloy uploaded his 3.844 MG Flap with Mach Bike, which is what opened me up to trying Mach Bike in the first place, so props to Estaloy for that.

As for the run itself, it's definitely not perfect. Lap 1 especially could be improved, and an improved lap 1 may lead to an improved lap 2 as well. Lap 3 is not even 0.1 off of the Flap, so it probably couldn't be improved by too much. Overall, I wouldn't be surprised if a mid to low 18 happened. Either way, the sub 20 hype is here.

For those who don't know, if you perform a hop on a mushroom and then input a left or right input, you are locked into turning into that direction, which is the main reason why my lap 1 is so much slower than Bryce's lap 1. This is more than made up for by the added momentum that comes from the hop trick in laps 2 and 3.
