Today in the Union, NJ area I heard a radio station on 102.3 FM playing Oldies music with a strong signal and good audio quality. There is no licensed station on that frequency in this area so it clearly was an unlicensed "pirate" station. A DJ with a thick accent came on, calling it "Mix 102".

Eventually the playlist shifted to Caribbean music, but still in English, not the Creole language typical of NYC-area pirates. The DJ even gave a weather forecast, talking over the middle of a song. He also took callers on the air, again in the middle of playing a song. I've heard that this is normal practice in many parts of the world, whereas in the USA it is considered bad form for a DJ to "step on" the vocals of a song.
