In the time it takes you to toast and butter your bagel 🥯 , a woman is diagnosed with Stage 3 or Stage 4 ovarian cancer—roughly every three minutes. In honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, here’s some hopeful research from MIT Professor Angela M. Belcher that could improve screening and survival rates for women across the nation and the world. She and her team have developed a near-infrared imaging system to spot precancer lesions in the fallopian tubes, where 85 percent of ovarian cancer starts.

Profesor Belcher spoke at Tech Day 2025. Watch hers and all of the Technology Day talks: bit.ly/4pf4UsQ
