3:48 Atari 2600 version
Game: Pac-Man Double Feature
atari.com/products/pac-man-double-feature
store.atariage.com/products/pac-man-double-feature-7800
Note: I dumped the cart that I own and paid for.
I used the OSCR v5 (Open Source Cart Reader) to dump the cart. Then I used 7800header to add the cart header info.
OSCR GitHub: github.com/sanni/cartreader/tree/master
7800header GitHub: github.com/7800-devtools/7800basic/tree/master
You can dump the cart using Maxflash Cartridge Studio.
Note: MaxFlash label faces up, Cartridge label faces up, Chip side of adapter faces up.
-Select Cartridge, Dump, Atari 7800, Standard 48kB (or less) cartridge
-Save bin file
- Edit bin file with 7800Header program. Link above to 7800Header.
Update:
7800Header commands I ran from a Windows Command Prompt:
7800header [name of bin file you dumped]
set hsc
name "Pac-Man Double Feature" (or whatever you want to set game name in the header)
save or save filename.a78
Now you should have a .a78 ROM file to use with your favorite emulator or MiSTer FPGA.
The header info I used for Pac-Man Double Feature Cart.
7800header 0.21 Nov 4 2025 19:35:24
file name : Pac-Man Double Feature.a78
embedded game name : Pac-Man Double Feature
rom size : 49152
cart format (v3) : linear
cart format (v4) : linear
controllers : 7800joy1 7800joy2
peripherals : HSC
tv format : NTSC
I was able to get a good dump using the Maxflash USB Cartridge Programmer with the Atari 7800 adapter. Just so you know, you will still need to set the header info.

Secret mode
In addition to the somewhat hidden simultaneous multiplayer mode, Pac-Man: Double Feature contains another secret game mode. On the Atari 7800 (or 7800+), this mode can be accessed by pressing the Pause button while on the main menu; on the Atari 2600+, it is accessed by flicking the Color/B&W switch to the downward position.
Upon enabling the secret mode, an additional "Version" select option is added to the menu, featuring "Arcade" and "Home" settings. Selecting the "Home" option loads a native Atari 7800 recreation of the Atari 2600 version of Pac-Man - entirely separate from the 2600 ROM included via the DIP switch setting - which can also be combined with the other menu settings (e.g. Random Mazes mode).
The secret selection menu is not mentioned in the game's instruction manual or in promotional material. It is rumored that Atari did not want to market the secret mode as a feature, though still allowed DeCrescenzo to implement it into the game.
