In his video "Faith and Reason," Mister Butt argues that Christians' belief in God is not based on blind faith, and that their version of "faith" is a well-founded confidence based on evidence. He does this by muddying the waters on what faith is, how much faith scientists have in their natural worldview, and how much evidence there actually is for Christianity. It amounts to an attempt at leveling the playing field by elevating the Christian concept of faith to something more reasonable than it is, while insinuating people like scientists use more blind faith than they actually do.
His approach is convoluted and basically makes no point. So why am I addressing it? Because his strategy amounts to what I see as a form of gaslighting meant to make you doubt a really basic observation about the amount of faith required to believe in Christianity - and this is a fairly common tactic you're likely to run into in conversation with believers at some point. I hope my observations help provide some specific clarity on an attempt at creating semantic confusion.
