You can't reason with an absolutist — and being more tolerant only makes things worse. After 70 years and a lifetime studying political psychology, I've landed on humanity's oldest unsolved problem: missionary zeal. And I've got bad news about your tolerance strategy.
I'm an Absolutist Against Absolutism (And That's the Whole Problem)
At 70 years old, I've identified what I call humanity's 8-billion-person problem: the appetite for missionary zeal — that intoxicating certainty that you've found THE answer, taken the red pill, escaped Plato's cave, and everyone who disagrees is wrong, dumb, or evil.
I call the study of this phenomenon psychoproctologology: the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of absolutist behavior.
