‘Misinterpretation’

Somewhere a fire is burning brighter
And sometimes a change is no good
Connections are broken in the wire
My feet are in the water soaking under
My mind is slipping farther into comfort

And I can’t stand up right now and run away
Just like a stone in the river where it always stays.

Something’s in the shadows and it follows
Waiting to inhale when it’s closer
Waiting to take away what I never returned
It’s way if thinking is dark and invasive
More along the lines of contagious

And I won’t turn around to see if the sound is real
Maybe if I count to three as the layers peel

The hearts are still beating like a drum
They play whatever they feel like playin
I listen closely to the changes
But it just seems to be a big misinterpretation

Just one big misinterpretation

And I can’t translate its rhythm anymore
