For more than 50 years, the Dayton’s Holiday Shows transformed downtown Minneapolis with elaborate, one-of-a-kind displays. When the shows ended, many of the iconic figures were meant to be destroyed.
Elijah Layne rescued several of those rare decorations and now preserves the magic in his own home. From hidden figures to unexpected restoration challenges, his collection offers a rare look at a beloved piece of Minnesota holiday history.
