Minka is a short documentary which chronicles the restoration of a 250-year-old Japanese farmhouse by American journalist John Roderick and Japanese architect and art collector Yoshihiro Takishita. The men rescued and relocated the old house—with the help of traditional builders and artisans—and turned it into a beautiful home for over 40 years. Minka, meaning "people's house" in Japanese, is a traditional house that was once common in Japan. The film explores place, memory, friendship, and the meaning of home.
