Defence Minister David McGuinty announces that the government has awarded a $768.6-million construction contract to PCL Construction Canada Inc. for a new science research hub in Ottawa. The hub, which will be built on the Canada Food Inspection Agency’s Ottawa site, which feature six science facilities that will work to protect Canada’s food supply, bolster public health, security and the support a resilient economy.
McGuinty is joined Mona Fortier (parliamentary secretary to foreign affairs minister), Harpreet Kochhar (president, Canadian Food Inspection Agency) and Tyler Watt (MPP, Nepean).
The defence minister faces questions on the ongoing trade negotiations between the federal government and the Trump administration. He is also asked about Canadian citizen who was recently arrested by Belgian authorities after being accused of spying at NATO's military headquarters.
