A different kind of challenge run: Minimalist 100%
Part 13 - Halfway Done (As in "more than 50% completion now")
The arrows you can collect from Ploymus Mountain (and the one from the Zora veteran) never respawn, so I permanently removed 20 individual items from the game during that questline, whereas I could have just killed the Lynel or some of the archer Lizalfos in Zora's Domain - all of which respawn, so nothing gets permanently removed. It would have been better to do this right away, but at the time, it simply didn't occur to me that I was making a mistake.
It was also pointed out to me that I also screwed up the Hinox inside the Typhlo Ruins. Hinoxes are minibosses that contribute to Kilton's little extra challenge for optional items (the Monster Medals) so I should not have killed it. I can sadly not un-do that now as the save files I'd need to load no longer exist, but I pledge to not slay another Hinox, Stalnox, Molduga or Talus for the remainder of the playthrough - with the sole exceptions of the Molduking and Igneo Talus Titan, which don't count for the Monster Medals but are needed for 2 of the DLC shrines.
As for the actual playthrough: I tried to stick to the "interesting" parts of the shrine hunt, as I don't think it would be thrilling to watch someone stumble through a canyon for a couple of minutes until there happens to be a shrine. I had to cut a couple of things out so the video didn't get too long (reddit only allows 15 minutes or less) but if you want to see a specific shrine / tower / solution that wasn't mentioned before, feel free to request it ;)
The same goes for Koroks BTW. The vast majority of the ones from this section were the boring "pick up a rock somewhere" puzzles, and I'll probably feature the actually "interesting" ones in another video later.
As for the horse despawn thing: I planned on creating a kind of "in-depth" guide about it eventually but did not yet manage to find the time for it.
For anyone wondering where the name "Caddie" came from: The formerly nameless horse was named by a fellow youtuber: AetherSpiral Knight. I know that this name is actually a nickname for "Caroline", but I immediatly thought of Golf Caddies, and since I used that horse as an alternate solution for both of the "Stasis Golf" Korok Puzzles, I found that name equal parts funny and fitting ;)
Additional information:
- If you mount a Lynel and attack while sitting on his back, the attacks will not reduce the durability of the melee weapon you're holding. I'm not sure whether this is a glitch or intended gameplay mechanic (leaning towards glitch tho), so I didn't want to use it in this playthrough - but for any other playthroughs, this is a viable tactic and especially neat if you have a Royal Guard's Claymore (since those have very high damage values but abysmal durability)
- The total amount of cash I'm going to need consists of:
First Fairy: already paid 0
Second Fairy: 500
Third Fairy: 1,000
Fourth Fairy: 10,000
Malanya: 1,000
House in Hateno: 3,000 rupees & 30 Wood Bundles
Total: 15,500 rupees.
Please note that the house in Hateno in itself does not count, but in order to make Tarrey Town count as a location, Hudson has to move there first, and that in turn only happens after buying the house. I do not yet know if the counter will go up every time a new resident moves in, but I plan to test just that once I unlocked the counter - but this also means that Tarrey Town and the Fairies will have to wait until after Ganon.
