Assembly has finally begun on the willys cj2a powerwheels jeep project! I use a MIG welder to spot weld the parts together, though i also try butt welds and some lap welds. This is made from 20 gauge sheet steel and fits over a powerwheels wrangler body that i have attacked violently with a saw.
I am no welding expert. I'm not even a novice welder. I am a beginner welder. This is my beginner welding project. As such, do NOT expect me to show you HOW to weld. I show you how I am learning to weld. That's a big difference. I'm sure you could train a chimp to weld better than I can weld in this video.
I use an eastwood mig 175 with .030 wire and standard 75/25 shielding gas. It is the only welder i've ever tried, I couldn't tell you how it compares to other welders. I barely know which end shoots the sparks.
