Nik the Booksmith | MINI GLOBE 101 | TUTORIAL - part 3 of mini globe series @NiktheBooksmith | Uploaded June 2020 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
Important Take-aways:
1. 40mm table tennis balls - I got mine at Dollar Tree
2. corsage or boutonniere pin or wire - approx. 3" to use as axis pole
3. fine sandpaper to roughen surface of table tennis ball before gluing on map
4. print on a thin paper like tissue, some packing paper sheets or uncoated tracing paper (sometimes you can get the cheaper, uncoated tracing paper at dollar stores, its made for kids) taped to cardstock before printing.
5. use PDF files to print images with Adobe Acrobat (free program) to get correctly sized prints.
6. before removing tissue from cardstock, seal printed map gores with satin or semi-gloss clear spray. I coat twice, drying thoroughly in between.
7. use adhesive of your choice, thinned PVA or other brush on glue, not sure about spray-on glue, but not going to rule it out!
