Info:
The S+Q upwarp glitch is an effect of the client-to-server merge that took place in Minecraft 1.3 and works up until 1.4.2. By obstructing the space which the player is currently occupying and then reloading the map, the game places the player at the lowest available 2-block-high space above the player's current position.
In singleplayer, this glitch only works inside spawn chunks, but the spawn chunks can be extended by placing a chest at the chunk boundary, which I do at 2:57.
This exploit is banned in vanilla speedruns because it requires quitting the map, but as of January 2020, it is allowed under Super Hostile / CTM speedrunning rules.
