I started on this project after reading a post on the minecraft forum posted by Regular Hexahedron about his Monster day detector. It is a revolutionary idea and it is uncertain why this has not been thought of before...
Now there are some issues with this design as you'll see but this is by FAR the most compact design that I can actually come up with for this contraption.
What I meant by average-r was this: Example - Let each of the things in this video be called PODs. If we have 10 of these PODs and 9 of these PODs are saying its day (i.e. nothing inside it) then the system will take the average and take an educated 'guess' that it is day. Then this will be connected up to all the PODs to kill there inhabitants. This will be connected to an RS-nor latch for 5 minutes and then will flip after the 5 minutes of 'day'.
This averaging technique should work. 3 creatures can go into the device and out of those 2 die. therefore out of 9 PODs 6 of them should always die (this is assuming that the certainty that each creature going into the POD is 1/3). Thing is this isn't very accurate with only 9 PODs. When I get this working I intend to copy and paste the system to have up to 100 PODs which should potentially make it easier to detect day and night.
However there is always the probability of a creature actually walking into the POD... But I digress.. However I'm sure someone out there in the world will have a solution!
