As you walk across the causeway leading to Helm's Deep, you can almost hear the faint sounds of the battle fought here between Saruman's forces and the Rohirrim. You picture the Deeping Wall blowing up and the men on the wall holding off the enemy hordes through courageous hand-to-hand fighting. Finally, you remember Gandalf arriving with Erkenbrand and a thousand soldiers at dawn, charging Saruman's forces and winning the battle.
