There is a feature in minecraft java edition that allows you to lock a chest and then use a custom key to open the chest to look at its contents! In this video I show the setblock command you can use in minecraft 26 to place locked chests and the give command to get the key required to open them!
Commands used in the video:
/setblock ~ ~1 ~ chest[facing=east]{lock:{items:"tripwire_hook",count:1,components:{"minecraft:item_name":"Chest Key"}}} replace
/give @p tripwire_hook[item_name="Chest Key"] 1
