After messing around with this glitch the zipkrowd guys found, I found a way to change the id of blocks! With this method you can change any block in the game to the block with an id of one lower than the original block. So eg. dirt - grass, or glass - sponge as seen in the video. Works in 1.6 and above, I haven't tested older versions, but it could work in earlier too ;)

Made this a while ago and its finally bug-free for release :D Enjoy this little o so handy device! Can brew any type of potion automatically, is tile-able and 2 wide so wont take up to much space.
