In this video, I'll prove that you can get diamonds before the sun rises on your second day. Doing an attempt for this video, I even got them before the first midnight.
The purpose of this video isn't to cover diamond mining strategies, there are a lot of videos on those.
In this video, we're going to look at a get-to-mining strategy, how to get from nothing to mining with some iron picks quickly, which is often the hard part.
26 Steps:
(Optional first:)
- Get a little food
- Find lower ground (if you spawn up on a mountain)
Get to the nearest grove of trees and:
1. Punch 3 Wood
2. Craft a crafting table and then a wooden pickaxe
3. Dig down and mine 3 Cobblestone
4. Craft a stone pickaxe (toss wood one)
5. Go back and Mine 20 Cobblestone
6. Craft: Stone Axe, Stone Shovel, 2 Furnaces
7. Chop 10 Wood
8. Cook 9 Wood with 1 wood
9. Chop 4 "new wood"
10. Return, put charcoal in bottom for other 8
11. Chop 4 "new wood"
12. Cook the 8 "new wood" (furnace 2)(charcoal from furnace 1)
13. Mine 16 Cobblestone
14. Craft 2 more furnaces
15. Chop 8 wood, cook it with a charcoal
16. Chop 8 wood, cook it with a charcoal
17. Chop 16 wood (don't cook this)
18. Mine 6 Cobblestone
19. Craft two more stone pickaxes
20. Gather all charcoal cooked so far
21. Begin mining diagonally down for iron and gold
(Don't return to surface)
(Don't get distracted by coal or copper)
(use shovel/torch on gravel)
(only craft ~ 16-32 torches)
If you don't run into iron ore, STOP at y=16
When you get 3 iron or gold, mine it and stop
22. Craft a table and furnace
23. smelt iron/gold and keep going while it cooks
(30 seconds - mine for 25 sec or so)(count to 25)
24. Come back and craft all pickaxes
25. Craft at most 2 iron pickaxes
(Craft all gold into pickaxes to find iron faster)
26. Dig to -59 and go straight
(Turn to avoid caves)
(Turn to dig into Tuff)
