Minecraft 1.16 release date June 23rd! Here’s a rapid-fire overview of everything(ish) the update has to offer in 60 seconds. No idea what I just said? Here’s a brief summary:
- Piglins: New semi-aggressive mob, barter with them by throwing them gold items (ingots, gear, etc) and if they like what you give them they’ll throw back something in exchance
- Hoglins: Aggressive unless near portals, anchors, or warped fungus, turn into zoglins if taken outside the nether.
- Striders: Passive mob that can walk on lava, and be ridden with a saddle and warped fungus rod.
- Ancient Debris: Used to make Netherite, and the new best gear in the game! Smelt, combine 4 smelts with 4 gold ingots, and you get 1 ingot. Use the ingot to upgrade diamond tools and armour.
- Bastions Remnants: New nether structures that generate as bridges, hoglin stables, housing units, and treasure rooms. Host a wide variety of loot, gold blocks, magma cube spawners, and lodestones!
- New bioms: Crimson Forests, Nether Wastes, Soul Sand Valley, Warped Forest
- Lodestones: Made with weeping obsidian (found at ruined portals and bastions), and glowstone, right click it with your compass to bind the two together.
- Nether Anchors: Allows you to set your spawn in the nether. Requires glowstone to charge (up to 4; each death uses one charge).
- Soul Fire: Set fire to soul sand or soil to generate, and deals double damage.
- New lower luminosity torches, campfires, and lanterns made with soul sand.
- New cosmetics: Shroomlights (found in nether forests), new types of quartz block, and nether brick, basalt, and various types of blackstone (gilded, polished, etc).
- New enchantment: Soul Speed allows you to move faster on soul sand. Can only be acquire through bartering, bastion loot, or killing a piglin with pre enchanted boots.
