On a September weekend in 2008, Milwaukee Road 261 pulled two trips between Minneapolis and La Crescent, MN along the Mississippi River. Here we see the 4-8-4 departing Minneapolis.
This weekend’s trips were bittersweet, since they were the last before the big engine was to be rebuilt. Thankfully, she has been fully restored once again, returning to operation in May, 2013.
