A major part of planning any hair transplant is evaluating the donor area, since the density in the back of the head determines how much hair can safely be moved into the thinning areas. For Shona, the priority was restoring the first two fingers of density behind the new hairline, then using any remaining grafts to improve the corners as well. Because only a standard 1 cm strip could be taken, the amount of donor hair was naturally limited, but Dr. Blumenthal was still able to cover the area and explained that a second coat of paint can always be considered later to add even more density.
