Also known as 77 turns of pure agony on an emotional rollercoaster. If you saw my first solo Dark Sun video, you’d know that I had a client from the Travelers’ Hub as a Cleric, but this battle completely strips away that. Let me tell you, soloing the Dark Sun with, or without a cleric as a client is the difference between how long this battle can take.
Phase 1: 00:00
Phase 2: 19:58
With that said, let’s get into some tips.
=
Tip 1: Make your job an Elf
Elves are busted in Miitopia. For one, they can use Forest Aegis to put themselves in a barrier (which reduces damage taken by half). They can also use hail of arrows to deal good damage to all enemies, and healing Melody to restore a decent amount of health. Oh, and make sure you have that job at level 50
=
Tip 2: Make your personality laid back
Laid Back is the best personality for soloing the Dark Sun, or any other tough boss, as the magic attacks can be increased with one of their quirks, “Get Serious”. On the other hand, the power can be halved with “Slack Off”, though it also uses half the MP. Slack Off can be very bad when using Healing Melody, especially if you were already low on health, so if you don’t want to worry about that, the Stubborn personality is a good second choice.
=
Tip 3: Have excellent food stats
Ideally, you’re going to want +99 in HP, Magic, and Defense. One stat you want to make sure NOT to max out is Speed. The reason is because the Dark Sun’s nightmare attack, where not only can this make you lose a turn, but you will take considerable damage. However, this can be cancelled if an enemy attacks you. On top of that, you’ll want to factor in the speed of both the Dark Sun, and his Medals. The Dark Sun has a speed stat of 105, and the medals have a speed stat of 120, so make sure to have a speed stat between the two, so that way the Medals can take their turn before you, and possibly wake you up incase you’re lured into a nightmare. At level 50, the Elf’s speed stat is 56, so you’re gonna want your speed stat from food to range from +50-63. Since my speed stat was at +99, you can definitely see that it really can and bit me in the butt.
=
Tip 4: Bring the horse along (Switch version only)
The horse will greatly aid you, as it can restore your MP with Check Rub, and use Neigh to wake you up from a nightmare. The effect and chances of these moves increase if you have a higher relationship level, so make your relationship with with the horse is level 99.
=
Tip 5: Use your sprinkles wisely
When you get his, don’t be diligent with your HP sprinkles. You’re going to want to save them for phase 2, as the amount of HP sprinkles you have determine how long you can last in that phase, and running out can be very bad (especially if it happens before phase 2). MP sprinkles aren’t as important, as Check Rub can help restore MP.
=
Tip 6: Memorize the pattern in the second phase
During the second phase (which starts when the Dark Sun has 30% (3,600/12,000) HP or less, he starts to attack in a pattern.
Big Bang - Attack
Attack - Black Hole
Attack - Attack
Asteroids - Attack
Having this pattern memorized WILL help out a ton, so you don’t accidentally heal before the Big Bang, or attack instead of heal before the Asteroids. Oh, speaking of asteroids, they hit like cinder blocks on a freight train. Even with a barrier from Forest Aegis, these fast-moving rocks will take you down from full health, to about 10% health. When the Dark Sun is about to use Asteroids, and you’re below half health, use an HP Banana. Don’t bother chancing it with Healing Melody, unless you already used both of your bananas (in which you’ll want to dump out HP sprinkles until you’re at full health), or you’re above half health.
Those are all the tips I have for soloing the Dark Sun.
