I need to elaborate that when I discuss William the Conqueror, he wasn't an Angevin but Norman. The descendents of the Conqueror wouldn't be known as Angevins until Henry II (who's father was the count of Anjou, hence the name) is begrudgingly declared heir of England following a long civil war. The basis of what I was saying is still true in that the Angevins (Plantagenets) were kings but also vassals of the King of France through their holdings of duchies like Normandy, among others, creating the bitter, complex power struggle between the two kingdoms that lasted centuries.
