This is the skills demonstration required for my class midterm this semester. But I decided many people like to do challenges, so even if you're not in my class, I challenge you do make a short video demonstrating these skills and post a link in the comments.
In lieu of live testing, my students will submit an unedited video demonstrating the following skills, unaccompanied:
- count in with 3 and demonstrate 4 against 3
- count in with 4 and demonstrate 3 against 4
- sing an augmented triad up and down from a note of your choice
- sing a whole tone scale up and down from the same note
- sing a diminished 7 chord up and down from a note of your choice
- sing a whole-half octatonic scale up and down from that note
- sing a half-whole octatonic scale up and down from that note
Jazz players may be more familiar with the terms whole half diminished and half whole diminished for the latter two scales.
