Destiny 2 Episode Revenant - Solo New Vespers Host Dungeon First Boss Fight Encounter Raneiks Unified. Just a quick video showing the first boss fight encounter in the newly added dungeon during Episode Revenant. Details below.
Unfortunately, at this point it seems unlikely that any of the other encounters in the dungeon are possible to solo on contest. The final boss certainly not, and this boss itself would only be possible if you get lucky with damage chunks. I spent quite a bit of time testing out different setups and loadouts, but ultimately nothing really came close to be able to meet the DPS requirements. For it to end up being possible, all it boils down to is finding some interaction with this boss that does a lot more damage than it should, having things do more damage than they should (for example stasis chunking), or getting an infinite damage phase for an essentially free kill. I never once had the Behemoth super do remotely close to enough damage or chunk, and all other seutps werent close. Other than that, the rest of the fight is easily manageable. However, theres only so much I can test myself, so I think any more time spent would be a waste of time, and holding off on the normal dungeon clears and guides any longer isnt the best for the channel and content. That being said, Im happy enough to have a no dupe solo of the first encounter on contest.
Outside of that, this encounter is pretty fun. Behemoth super does very well for the damage phase, dealing massive damage to all of the servitors. Its a little inconsistent though, sometimes youll get massive chunks to about half HP, other times youll only get around a third. Not a bad fight overall though.
My plan for the dungeon will be to post this boss, the final boss, and a compilation of my first normal clear. Tomorrow will be the solo flawless run, and after that will be guides. Apologies for the delays on getting these all done, I wasted a lot of time testing things in contest that didnt end up working out, so the normal cadence on new dungeon releases was completely thrown off. Ill have to consider what better way to do it for future dungeons if this format continues. Theres a balance between wanting to go in and test out contest (and the expectation with it), but then also suffering for normal content as a result of what would normally be a good few clears in the same period of time time.
For a quick explanation of the mechanics: You need to clear enemies until the mini-boss spawns, defeat that and youll teleport up. Clear all of the enemies upstairs and use the buff to break the boss into all the little servitors. Two of those servitors will have glowing eyes, and you have to look at their nameplate to see what number. Do this twice for a total of 4 numbers, then when youre back downstairs you can shoot the 4 correct numbers to start DPS.

This was the mission I was worried about the most of the 3, but it actually turned out to be not too bad at all. The amount of times you need to juggle the Fracture was a little painful, particularly because nearly every area was a darkness zone. So youre unable to just leave one character behind, and you have to slowly move them both at the same time. It gets a little tedious at points, but otherwise its fairly straight forward. The boss fight I wiped once, which was purely because the Joining Allies didnt work. It kept the second character on a black screen, until the full res timer ran out and I wiped. A little bit of a learning curve with the boss and where to have the inactive character, the bridges seemed to work out. All thats left is Iconoclasm, which Ill post tomorrow before starting Black Myth Wukong.
As with the Dual Destiny mission, these are unfortunately impossible to truly solo. While you can handle almost all of the mechanics, the Fracture of the Witness ruins the ability to be able to do it as a true solo. So continuing in the same vein as I did with the Dual Destiny mission, I cleared this with my main character on mouse and keyboard, and the second character I used a controller on a second screen. And with that, I did the entire mission solo... playing two accounts at once.
As I said before, obviously this isnt a true solo or anything like that, purely for entertainment purposes. The run itself isnt too difficult at all, but the initial time investment I had from Dual Destiny (and logistics of it all) took a bit. Theres also some downtime on one character or the other, as its physically impossible to control both simultaneously without any gaps in the gameplay, but hopefully with the two POVs being shown it shouldnt be too boring to watch.

Well, the only upside to the Nightfall repeating is that I get to do this earlier than I was anticipating. This was something I wanted to do since GMs first came out years ago, but the power level was never there. I did a weapons only version for A Garden World, but that was skipping most of the strike with invis. With the changes in The Final Shape to collection gear, its finally possible. I was originally planning to run this on Devils Lair, as it seemed to be the best choice, but this one worked out decently anyway. Overall it isnt as bad as I thought it would be. Hellion kinda carries, and all of the ignitions and roaming ability from Song of Flame helps a lot. Otherwise itd be much worse and about 10 times slower.
I did use the cheese on the warsat, as I wasnt sure how long the rest of the run was going to take and I didnt want to pad it out even more. But for those who want to see the legit warsat despite being with all white gear, I added a clip at the end showing that too. Its just long.
Oh, and before anyone says about the green GL, thats unfortunately the lowest weapons go for the heavy slot, otherwise I wouldve used a white one.

Yes, this is on the Getaway Warlock. Its my first clear of this and going into it without knowing what to expect, so a safer build like this is a better approach. Boss fight is kinda crazy too, as you have to spend the entire time kiting the boss around at the end. I didnt know how the later spawns worked on that, otherwise I wouldve prepped a little better for the final add waves.
Whether or not its the hardest, Im not so sure. Its probably more difficult than all other GMs in the current sandbox, but theres GMs that were harder in the past. Most of the clear isnt too bad, however I think the parts that will catch most people out is the side rooms and the last phase of the boss. For me I didnt realise in the Survive section the Harbinger despawns if you clear all of the adds, so I wasted a good few attempts there trying to defeat it and getting 1 hit by the strand ranged attack. I had two runs where the game crashed late into the run, and one where I also got stuck in a door during the Survive section... dont try to go back from where you enter.
I was also planning to do Solo Witness attempts this week, which is when I had my schedule ready for it, but Bungie decided to change their mind and nerf Still Hunt earlier than expected, despite saying it wouldnt be until August. Im sure another damage strategy will come out in the future, and Ill do it whenever that happens. Its just unfortunate that I had my schedule ready to start and clear it this week, based on what they previously said. Even if they gave notice earlier in the week I think it wouldve been fine, but the day before reset is just not enough time to change their mind. At the end of the day its my fault though, for thinking I could wait until this week and being busy with other stuff.

Probably not a great idea to put this boss in an even smaller arena, with more pillars to obscure your vision, and then randomly decide to include 4 enemy spawns during the fight to have to also deal with. The only upside is that blight doesnt deal damage until it fully stacks, so theres a tiny bit of breathing room. Along with that, the boss can be fairly consistently staggered, and bleed procs quickly. So the best approach is to just deal as much damage as possible in the early phase, kite the adds around and clear them, and then deal with the boss alone again.
Oh, and it only took me over 200 bosses to realise theres a talisman that improves your dodge iframes. So thats nice to know... with 1 boss left. This weekend will be doing some Destiny 2 videos, but will hopefully have some time to work on the final boss after the weekend, along with the final all bosses compilation.
Build: 2x Blood Great Stars +25, max strength and dex, 43 arcane. Scadu +13. Ritual Sword, Claw, Green Turtle and Crucible Feather talismans. Raptors Black Feathers cloak. Cragblade and Royal Knights Resolve ashes of war.
