Welcome to another episode of Mid-Game Musings, an "accidental" discussion that probably should have been a podcast, which unfolded naturally during one of my video game streams.
I’m your host, Xybur, and today we’re discussing the emergence of AI agents in game-emulation development, particularly as it relates to MiSTer FPGA project cores. I briefly review a list of cores I downloaded for testing and examine the staggering number of releases and updates produced in a relatively short period... especially when compared with the historical pace of core development and the experiences of established developers!
In the second half of this discussion, we consider the potential negative effects of AI-assisted development on the developer community, as well as the implications for the future development, quality, and "hardware verfied" validity of cores in light of the MiSTer project’s stated goals.
