Best book of the year: A Scatter of Light by Malinda Lo
Least fave book of the year: At 30, I Realized I Had No Gender by Shou Arai, translated by Massiel Gutierrez – Tbh, I was so confused and slightly triggered by this book. It discusses gender dysphoria and talks a lot about the body as a trans person & not in the “beautiful body” way. The author/illustrator is intersex & this manga is more for his fans and not for an outsider.
Prettiest book: Lucky Red by Claudia Cravens @thedialpress
Longest book: Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé (422 pgs)
Didn’t meet your expectations: Breathe: Journeys to Healthy Binding by Maia Kobabe with Dr. Sarah Peitzmeier
For context, I *did* enjoy Breathe! I’m so glad this book exists and tbh I want more NF books about binding. However, I wanted it to share more resources to where you can get binders & make it clear that you shouldn’t bind while you work out. But, I *do* recommend it! I just wanted more from it.
