For the first 20 minutes of Microsoft Build, Satya Nadella went on an unhinged ramble where he basically tried to justify how important data centers are, their role in a AI, and the millions of dollars they spend on it, which absolutely totally unrelated to the fact that he deployed Microsoft President Brad Smith and his army of lobbyists upon the White House and regulatory bodies to beg the government please please please pretty please will you let us build a data center? "Is this about appeasing local communities?" Smith was asked. He skillfully evaded by saying it was about reinforcing Microsoft's "core values." The price of electricity will go up, the jobs it will make are less than a mom and pop store, you can't buy a computer now, and the taxes are a pittance that town governments will be reliant on for years. But at least coding is better now!
