All Things 3D | Microsoft / HP Mixed Reality Headset tracking example outdoors @allthings3d | Uploaded 7 years ago | Updated 19 hours ago
This is small sample of using the my #MobileNUC system outdoors with one of the latest Trainer Holograms. You can see recording through one of the lenses in the small inset video at the bottom left side of the screen. Video quality is better when viewing directly with your own eyes.
Caveat: Even though the MS Mixed Reality tracking system works well outdoors, it doesn't work well outside without some form of pattern to lock on to. In this video the hedges provide the random pattern, as well as the grass. In another test in a parking lot, the result were less promising. I will have to spend more time with MS's tracking system to see how patterns enhance tracking. And find a large indoor/warehouse setting to test tracking of large spaces indoors.
